Semis paid, the index names went nowhere

The clean money came from the semiconductor names — a short into a news-driven overnight spike that was closed the moment the push turned violent, and a long started deliberately small because the level had already been chased, then built with two planned adds and scaled out in thirds. The index names never offered the same clarity for our desk: a long at a previous-day-close level got whipped out twice, and one position was held to break-even and taken off rather than argued with.

The 1h 14m session is on the other side of this.

Everything above is the write-up. This is the morning itself, with the names on every call and the room talking through it.

The best-managed trade of the morning started with an admission: the AVGO level had already moved past, so the entry went on at a fraction of normal size with two adds pre-placed below and a stop under the day's lows. When the first third came off in profit, the stop was deliberately left where it was rather than pulled to break-even — the stated reason being that the plan still allowed for an add against the position, and moving the stop would have contradicted the plan rather than protected it. The adds filled, the average improved, and the rest came off in pieces. Same name, same read, run a second time later in the session for a similar result.

RDDT was the opposite kind of trade — a short into an overnight index-inclusion spike, sized with one add above and a stop over the recent highs. The push came in fast and hard, the exit was fumbled in the moment, and the response was to get flat entirely rather than fix it mid-flight. That is a reasonable way to handle a fumbled exit in a fast tape.

INTC took three attempts at the same zone where a previous-day close, previous-day open and lower band stacked up. Two of those attempts stopped for small, tight losses. The third worked and produced the best-managed exit sequence of the day, including a stop moved to break-even after a target was missed by a cent — treated as filled, because the trade had done what it was forecast to do. GOOG was watched for most of the session at four or five different levels and traded once, for a small loss; when the middle of the morning turned to chop, two of the desk stood down and said so out loud rather than manufacturing a setup.

Net points are per share. Apply your own size to get your own number: at 1,000 shares, 3.25 points is $3,250.00. At 100 shares it is $325.00. At one share it is $3.25. The desk publishes the move, not a dollar result, because the dollars depend entirely on how you size, and that is your decision rather than ours.
