← Options Glossary Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) are debt securities backed by the US government that are indexed to inflation to protect investors from the negative effects of inflation. TIPS pay a coupon every six months (semiannual), are denominated in $100 increments, and are available with 5, 10, and 30-year maturities.
